6.15.13 Expand Capacity of Sub-Pool in Tier Pool

The procedure to expand the sub-pool capacity of the Tier pool is as follows:

  1. On the global navigation tab, click Storage.
    The registered ETERNUS Disk storage systems are displayed on the Main pane.

  2. On the Main pane, click the target ETERNUS Disk storage system.

  3. On the Category pane, click Automated Storage Tiering.
    The items of the Category pane change into the items concerning Automated Storage Tiering.

  4. On the Category pane, click Tier Pool.
    The registered Tier pools are displayed on the Main pane.

  5. On the Main pane, click the target Tier pool.
    The details of the selected Tier pool is displayed on the Main pane

  6. On the Main pane, select Sub-Pool tab.
    The sub-pool information is displayed on the Main pane.

  7. On the Main pane, check the target sub-pool radio button.

  8. On the Action pane, click Expand Sub-Pool Capacity under Sub-Pool.
    The information confirmation screen for the target Tier pool is displayed. Only the following items can be changed though the current configuration is displayed on this screen.

    Item Name

    Explanation

    Assigned CM

    Only for the Tier pool that the CM in charge has been specified, a CM in charge can be added.

    In the default setting, a checkbox is not checked (a CM in charge is not added).

    To add a CM which takes charge of the Tier pool, check off the checkbox.

    Disk Selection

    Specify the method for the selection of disks that configure the sub-pool.
    The default setting is "Auto" (automatic selection).

    When "Auto" is selected, in the screen to configure the sub-pool, it is necessary to specify a minimum required capacity for the sub-pool.

    When "Manual" is selected, in the screen to configure the sub-pool, it is necessary to specify the disks that will configure the sub-pool.

  9. Enter the necessary information, and then click Next.
    The sub-pool information input screen is displayed.

  10. Refer to the following table to enter the necessary information, and then click Next.

    • If "Auto" is selected for Disk Selection in step 8:

      Item Name

      Explanation

      FTSP Name

      Specify a name for the sub-pool that the capacity is being expanded.

      In the default setting, the name of the target sub-pool is displayed. However, its name can be changed.

      When change the name, specify a name that is unique within the storage device. Any alphanumeric character (1-16 characters), a hyphen (-), an underscore (_), and a pound symbol (#) may be specified. The letters to be specified are not case sensitive.

      Minimum Required Capacity

      Specify the capacity required at a minimum for the sub-pool.
      A capacity of 1MB or more may be specified. It is also possible to input a decimal value.

      Specify Assigned CM

      As needed, specify the CM which takes charge of the RAID group configuring the sub-pool.

      In the default setting, a checkbox is not checked (a CM in charge is not specified). Any CM in charge can be configured from the CM in charge specified to the Tier pool.

      To specify a CM in charge, check the checkbox.

    • If "Manual" is selected for Disk Selection in step 8:

      Item Name

      FTSP Name

      Specify a name for the sub-pool that the capacity is being expanded.

      In the default setting, the name of the target sub-pool is displayed. However, its name can be changed.

      Selection Disks

      Specify the disk of the RAID group that will configure the sub-pool.
      The number of disks required will differ depending on the reliability of the RAID group.

      In the default setting, a checkbox is not checked (a CM in charge is not specified). Any CM in charge can be configured from the CM in charge specified to the Tier pool.

      To specify a CM in charge, check the checkbox.

  11. The information confirmation screen is displayed. Confirm the information, and then click Expand.
