The registered Tier pools are displayed on the Main pane.

  5. On the Action pane, click Create under Tier Pool.
The information input screen is displayed.

  6. Refer to the following table to enter the necessary information, and then click Next.

    Item Name

    Explanation

    Tier Pool Name

This is a name of the Tier pool to be created.
This name must be unique across all the ETERNUS Disk storage system registered in Storage Cruiser.

Any alphanumeric character (1-16 characters), a hyphen (-), an underscore (_), and a pound symbol (#) may be specified. The letters to be specified are not case sensitive.

    Policy Name

Specify the Tiering policy to associate with the Tier pool that is being created.
Make a selection from the Tiering policies that have been defined and are displayed in the pull-down list.

    Warning Threshold of Pool

To monitor the available capacity of the Tier pool, specify a threshold (%) of the usage rate of the Tier pool as a decimal figure in the range of 5-99. The default setting is "90".
Specify a value that is greater than Caution Threshold of Pool.

When this threshold is exceeded, a warning will be notified by the SNMP Trap.

    Caution Threshold of Pool

To monitor the available capacity of the Tier pool, specify a threshold (%) of the usage rate of the Tier pool as 0 or as a decimal figure in the range of 5-80. The default setting is "75".
Specify a value that is less than Warning Threshold of Pool.

When this threshold is exceeded, a caution will be notified by the SNMP Trap.

When "0" is specified or the Set no Caution Threshold of pool checkbox is checked on, the value of this item will be disabled.

    Encryption Status

Specify whether to make the Tier pool being created an encrypted Tier pool.
The default setting is "No" (do not encrypt).

When setting this as an encrypted Tier pool, select "Yes".

    Specify Assigned CM

As needed, specify the CM which takes charge of the Tier pool being created.

In the default setting, a checkbox is not checked (a CM in charge is not specified).

To specify a CM which takes charge of the Tier pool, check the checkbox. All of the CMs present on the storage device will be displayed, make a selection from these.

    Number of Layers

Specify the number of layers of the Tier pool that is being created. 2 or 3 may be selected.
    The default setting is "2".

    Disk Selection

Specify the method for the selection of disks that configure the sub-pool.
The default setting is "Auto" (automatic selection).

When "Auto" is selected, in the screen to configure the Low sub-pool, Middle sub-pool, and High sub-pool, it is necessary to specify a minimum required capacity for each of the sub-pools.

When "Manual" is selected, in the screen to configure the Low sub-pool, Middle sub-pool, and High sub-pool, it is necessary to specify the disks that will configure each of the sub-pools.

  7. The screen to configure the Low sub-pool is displayed.
Refer to the following table to enter the necessary information, and then click Next.

    • If "Auto" is selected for Disk Selection in step 6:

      Item Name

      Explanation

      FTSP Name

Specify a name (that is unique within the ETERNUS SF system) for the sub-pool.

Any alphanumeric character (1-16 characters), a hyphen (-), an underscore (_), and a pound symbol (#) may be specified. The letters to be specified are not case sensitive.

      Disk Type

Specify the type of disk that will configure the sub-pool.

Make a selection from the disk types (Online, Nearline, SSD, SED-SAS) that are displayed in the pull-down list.

      Reliability

Specify the RAID level of the sub-pool. Make a selection from one of the following that are displayed in the pull-down list.

      • High Performance(RAID1+0)

      • High Capacity(RAID5)

      • High Reliability(RAID6)

      • Mirroring(RAID1)

      • Striping(RAID0)

      Minimum Required Capacity

Specify the capacity required at a minimum for the sub-pool.
A capacity of 1MB or more may be specified. It is also possible to input a decimal value.

      Specify Assigned CM

Only when a CM in charge has been specified in step 6, as needed, specify the CM which takes charge of the RAID group configuring the sub-pool.

In the default setting, a checkbox is not checked (a CM in charge is not specified). Any CM in charge can be configured from the CM in charge specified to the Tier pool.

To specify a CM in charge, check the checkbox. All of the CMs specified in step 6 will be displayed, make a selection from these. Up to 2 CMs may be specified.

    • If "Manual" is selected for Disk Selection in step 6:

      Item Name

      Explanation

The number of disks required will differ depending on the reliability of the RAID group.

      Stripe Depth

Specify the size (KB) per disk in 1 stripe of the RAID group configuring the sub-pool. The default setting is "64".

The stripe depth that can be specified depends on Reliability and the number of disks of the RAID group.
