17.8 Allocating and Releasing Resources to L-Servers

This section explains how to allocate resources to, and release resources from, L-Servers.

Even if there are no resources to allocate to L-Servers, flexible configuration and operation, such as creating only L-Server definitions in advance, is possible.

[Solaris Zones]
When a virtual machine created on a VM host not managed with server management software is linked to an L-Server, "Allocating and Releasing Resources to L-Servers" is set according to the value of the definition file. After linking a virtual machine to an L-Server, it cannot be modified.
For details on definition files, refer to "17.8.1 Installation".

[OVM for SPARC]
When a virtual machine is linked to an L-Server, "Allocating and Releasing Resources to L-Servers" is set according to the value of the definition file.
For details on definition files, refer to "17.8.1 Installation".

Configure the following settings, when creating an L-Server.

Note

For an L-Server from which VM guests have been deleted using server virtualization software, "unknown" is displayed for the resource allocation status.

For details, refer to "Message number 67154" or "Message number 67178" in "Messages".

L-Servers can be deleted when their status is something other than "undefined" (specifications have not been defined).
