C.8.3 Registering Resources in Resource Pools

  1. Register VM Host Resources

    1. In the ROR console orchestration tree, right-click the target VM pool, and select [Register Resources] from the popup menu.

The [Register Resources] dialog is displayed.

    2. Select the VM host to register.

    3. Click <OK>.

For details, refer to "14.1 VM Host Resources" in the "User's Guide for Infrastructure Administrators (Resource Management) CE".

  2. Register Disk Resources (Raw Devices or Partitions)

Register the raw devices or partitions recognized by VM hosts as disk resources.

When migrating VM guests for virtual L-Servers, register the raw devices or the partitions shared between multiple VM hosts as disk resources defined to be shared.

Register the raw devices or the partitions to store cloning images shared between multiple VM hosts as disk resources defined as shared.

Disk resources can be registered by executing the rcxadm disk register command.

For details on the rcxadm disk register command, refer to "3.3 rcxadm disk" in the "Reference Guide (Command/XML) CE".

To register disk resources, an XML file that contains the information of the disk resources to be registered is necessary.

For the definition of the XML file, refer to "15.4.4 Disk Resources [OVM for SPARC]" in the "Reference Guide (Command/XML) CE".

When raw devices or partitions are recognized in a VM host that only uses the control domain, without using the I/O domain, creation of XML files by using the rcxvmdisk command and the rcxvmdiskagt command can be simplified.

For details on the rcxvmdisk command and the rcxvmdiskagt command, refer to "5.24 rcxvmdisk" and "5.25 rcxvmdiskagt" in the "Reference Guide (Command/XML) CE".

  3. Register Network Resources

    1. In the ROR console orchestration tree, right-click the target network pool, and select [Create Resource] from the popup menu.

The [Create a network resource] dialog is displayed.

    2. Enter the items necessary for network resources.

For details, refer to "14.3 Network Resources" in the "User's Guide for Infrastructure Administrators (Resource Management) CE".
