C.1.1 Overcommit Definition Files

This section explains overcommit definition files.

Only edit the overcommit definition files when changing the default value of the calculation method for available space for a VM pool used for overcommit.
For details on how to create a VM pool to use for overcommit, refer to "20.2 Creating" in the "User's Guide for Infrastructure Administrators (Resource Management) CE".

Storage Location of the Definition File

Installation_folder\SVROR\Manager\etc\customize_data

[Linux Manager]
/etc/opt/FJSVrcvmr/customize_data

Information

In the storage location above, the sample definition file (pool.sample.rcxprop) is stored. When using the sample as the definition file, place the file after deleting the ".sample" included in the file name.

over_commit_calculation

Specify the default value of the calculation method for available space for a VM pool used for overcommit.
The value specified using this parameter is used when the default value is not specified in the [Create a Pool] dialog, or in the calculation method for the available space when executing commands.

Specify one of the following:

  • When using a reservation value

    Specify "reserve".

  • When using an upper limit value

    Specify "limit".

"limit" is specified in the following cases:

  • When specification of "over_commit_calculation" is omitted

  • When an invalid value is specified

Example

over_commit_calculation=reserve

Point

It is necessary to edit the definition file, when migration is not executed using the configuration methods for overcommit functions after performing upgrade of the admin server from ROR V2.3.0 or V3.0.0.
For details, refer to "G.1.1 Overcommit Definition Files".
