This chapter explains how to maintain hardware.
For details on hardware maintenance, refer to "Chapter 9 Hardware Maintenance" of the "Operation Guide VE".
For Servers not Using Server Management Software
When replacing an entire server, a CPU, or memory, if there are differences in the CPU or memory specifications before and after the replacement, reflect the new CPU and memory specifications of the replaced server in the definition file before reconfiguring hardware information.
For virtual L-Servers
For details on definition files, refer to "Configuration when Creating a Virtual L-Server on a Server where ServerView Agents cannot be Used" in "E.1.1 Definition Files" of the "Setup Guide CE".
For physical L-Servers
For details on definition files, refer to "Configuration when Creating a Physical L-Server without Specifying a Model Name in the L-Server Template" in "D.5.1 Definition Files" of the "Setup Guide CE".
In the following cases, reflect the correct value on the definition file before reconfiguring the hardware information.
When defining the configuration information (CPU core count, CPU clock speed, memory capacity, etc.) of the target server after registering it with Resource Orchestrator
When modifying the configuration information (CPU core count, CPU clock speed, memory capacity, etc.) of a server that has been registered with Resource Orchestrator, in the definition file
For reconfiguring hardware properties, refer to "For rack mount or tower servers" in "9.3 Re-configuring Hardware Properties" in the "Operation Guide VE".
