3.2.3 Global Pool and Local Pool Selection Policy

This section explains the policy for selection of global pools and local pools.

The policy for selection of global pools and local pools from a resource application perspective is as indicated below.

Global pools

Resources can be used effectively by placing resources that can be shared over the entire system in global pools.

Tenant administrators do not need to be aware of resource availability.

If a specific tenant consumes a large amount of resources, the resources of the entire system may be exhausted.

Infrastructure administrators must monitor the space for resources of the entire system.

Local pools

Even if a specific tenant rapidly consumes resources, the system as a whole is not affected.

Even resources that can be shared among tenants must be prepared for each tenant. Consequently, it is necessary to prepare more resources than for global pools.

Tenant administrators must monitor resource availability for each tenant.
