1.5 Structure of GLS

The structure of the GLS system is illustrated below.

GLS uses ping monitoring to monitor the communication status of network devices. GLS also uses link status to monitor transmission paths to neighboring network devices. By using these two functions, GLS guarantees high reliability for the network.

Note that, for ping monitoring to function successfully, you must use network devices for which an IP address can be set.

Point

When using an internal NIC in an environment in which IP addresses cannot be assigned for network devices that are neighboring blade servers, using a link-state-group compatible switch blade allows you to monitor link statuses of neighboring devices.
