B.2.2 Java console

Take the following steps to collect the Java consol on the client. Note that collecting method varies depending on the client or connected URL types.

Java console display

Collect the Java console of Java Plug-in. Display it by taking the following steps.

In case of Windows(R)
  1. The following icons in the taskbar are right-clicked.

    or

  2. Left-click [Open Console].

In case of Solaris OS
  1. Exit the browser.

  2. Display the Java Plug-in control panel by executing the following command:

    # <Netscape dir>/j2pi/ControlPanel

    <Netscape dir>: Specify the Netscape installation directory.

    For Solaris 8 OS and Solaris 9 OS, the directory is default "/usr/dt/appconfig/netscape."

  3. Click the [Java Plug-in control panel]-[Base] tab, and then select [Java console display].

  4. Click <Apply> and then close [Java Plug-in control panel].

  5. Start the browser.

In case of Solaris OS with Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition Version 1.3.1 or Version 1.4.2
  1. The following icon on the desktop environment are double-clicked.

Double-click the following icon in the desktop environment.

Select and copy output information on the Java console, and paste it on a text editor such as WordPad.

In case of Solaris OS with Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 6
  1. Exit the browser.

  2. Display the Java control panel by executing the following command:

    #<Installed directory>/jre1.6.0_<version>/bin/ControlPanel

    Replace < version > with the file version number on CD-ROM.

  3. Select [Advanced] tab of the Java Control Panel.

  4. Select [Java Console] of the [Settings], and check [Show console].

  5. Click <Apply> and then close the Java Control Panel.

  6. Start the browser.

In case of Linux(R) with Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 5.0
  1. Exit the browser.

  2. Display the Java Control Panel by executing the following command:

    # /usr/java/jre1.5.0_<version>/bin/ControlPanel

    Replace < version > with the file version number on CD-ROM.

  3. Select [Advanced] tab of the Java Control Panel.

  4. Select [Java Console] of the [Settings] , and check [Show console].

  5. Click <Apply> and then close Java Control Panel.

  6. Start the browser.

In case of Linux(R) with Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 6
  1. Exit the browser.

  2. Display the Java Control Panel by executing the following command:

    # /usr/java/jre1.6.0_<version>/bin/ControlPanel

    Replace < version > with the file version number on CD-ROM.

  3. Select [Advanced] tab of the Java Control Panel.

  4. Select [Java Console] of the [Settings] , and check [Show console].

  5. Click <Apply> and then close Java Control Panel.

  6. Start the browser.

In case of non-displaying Java Console

After collecting this information, take the following steps to restore the setting as the Java console is not displayed:

In case of Windows(R) with Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 5.0
  1. The following icon in the taskbar is right-clicked.

  2. Left-click [Hide consol].

In case of Windows(R) with Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 6
  1. The following icon in the taskbar is right-clicked.

  2. Left-click [Hide console].

In case of Solaris OS
  1. Exit the browser.

  2. Display the Java Plug-in control panel by executing the following command:

    # <Netscape dir>/j2pi/ControlPanel

    <Netscape dir> : Specify the Netscape installation directory.

    For Solaris 8 OS and Solaris 9 OS, the directory is default "/usr/dt/appconfig/netscape."

  3. Deselect [Java consol display] on the [Java Plug-in control panel]-[Base] tab.

  4. Click <Apply>, and then close [Java Plug-in control panel].

In case of Solaris OS with Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 6
  1. Exit the browser.

  2. Display the Java control panel by executing the following command:

    #<Installed directory>/jre1.6.0_<version>/bin/ControlPanel

    Replace < version > with the file version number on CD-ROM.

  3. Select [Advanced] tab of the Java Control Panel.

  4. Select [Java Console] of the [Settings], and check [Hide console].

  5. Click <Apply> and then close the Java Control Panel.

  6. Start the browser.

In case of Linux(R) with Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 5.0
  1. Exit the browser.

  2. Display the Java Control Panel by executing the following command:

    # /usr/java/jre1.5.0_<version>/bin/ControlPanel

    Replace < version > with the file version number on CD-ROM.

  3. Select [Advanced] tab of the Java Control Panel.

  4. Select [Java Console] of the [Settings] , and check [Hide console].

  5. Click <Apply> and then close Java Control Panel.

  6. Start the browser.

In case of Linux(R) with Java(TM) Platform, Standard Edition Runtime Environment Version 6
  1. Exit the browser.

  2. Display the Java Control Panel by executing the following command:

    # /usr/java/jre1.6.0_<version>/bin/ControlPanel
