Chapter 4 : UNIX/IA Server Data Transfers | > 4.1 Functions |
XL-DATA/MV is used in a multiserver environment comprised of more UNIX/IA servers. XL-DATA/MV facilitates the bi-directional flow of data between the UNIX/IA servers and the other UNIX/IA servers, by using a data transfer volume on which UNIX/IA server files are created.
This function uses the transfer command of the UNIX/IA server to request data transfers.
The following section describes the programs that run on the client system and server system.
The following programs run on the server system:
Server system | Program | Overview |
---|---|---|
UNIX Server | Daemon (mftfd) | Waits for the data transfer instruction from the transfer command and sends data based on those instructions. |
IA Server | XL-DATA/MV Service |
The following programs run on the client system:
Client system | Program | Overview |
---|---|---|
UNIX/IA Server | Transfer command (mftfsend) | The client system sends data to the server system (SEND). |
Transfer command (mftfrecv) | The client system receives data from the server system (RECEIVE). |
Before executing the transfer command on the client system, first run the programs listed above on the server system. If the transfer command on the client system is executed before the program on the server system, the command times out and an error occurs.
Since this data transfer volume is a XL-DATA/MV exclusive file, other applications cannot access it.
The time-out monitor time for the transfer is 6 minutes.
This is the maximum time that the monitor waits for the client system transfer command and server system XL-DATA/MV to notify each other of the data transfer volume usage results. If for some reason (e.g., transfer command canceled, system goes down, etc.) this result notification does not occur within 6 minutes, the transfer command returns a failure result.
