Chapter 1 : Overview | > 1.1 The XL-DATA/MV |
The following are the data transfer methods used by XL-DATA/MV:
UNIX/IA server based Transfers
Data transfers are performed by commands from a UNIX/IA server.
The XL-DATA/MV product resides as a daemon/service program on a UNIX/IA server, and waits for data transfer instructions from the main server.
This document refers to daemon programs used for monitoring and data transfers as "daemon programs" or simply "daemons". For Windows, the daemon program refers to the service program.
The client/server system of XL-DATA/MV refers to the system connected to the data transfer volume.
The client system is the system requesting the data transfer (base system). The server system is the system receiving the request for data transfers.
The following are the system configurations for XL-DATA/MV data transfer:
Data transfers are performed by XL-DATA/MV commands.
The XL-DATA/MV software resides in the other server as a daemon or service as it waits for data transfer instructions from the base server (i.e., the server issuing the commands).
For this data transfer configuration, the base server is the client system and the other server is the server system.
