1.1.1 Purpose of XL-DATA/MV

Currently, the main methods of data transfer between servers are to copy the data via a magnetic tape, or to transfer files via LAN. There are drawbacks to both methods. Data transfer via LAN increases the load on the system and LAN, thus affecting the performance of other operations, while magnetic tapes are inefficient and slow.

XL-DATA/MV has been developed as a data transfer function to eliminate this problem.
Since the XL-DATA/MV product transfers data via disks, it not only achieves high-speed transfers, but also reduces the load on LAN.
