11.6.7 Starting and stopping the TSM daemon

Starting the TSM daemon
Execute the following command to start the TSM daemon.
```
# /etc/init.d/initTSM start
```
Checking that the TSM daemon has started
Execute the following command. If the dsmserv character string is displayed in the execution results, the daemon is already started.
```
# ps -ef | grep dsmserv
```
Stopping the TSM daemon
Execute the following command to stop the TSM daemon.
```
# /etc/init.d/initTSM stopF
```
The TSM daemon runs only on the Tape Server.
