Before upgrading, be sure to backup the system beforehand and be prepared for recovery in the event of failure.

If upgrading with the Windows Manager, log on as an Administrator. If upgrading with the Solaris Manager, log on at the root (supervisor). To copy files using the cp command, be sure to specify the -p (retain) option with the command. To copy directory by directory, specify the -R (recursion) option with the command.
