The ETERNUS Disk storage system offers the eco-mode (power-saving) function based on the MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) technology. The spindle rotation of the disk drive can be turned on and off by using this function.
Express offers the eco support tools to control whether spindle rotation of the disk drive is on or off.
Used in combination with the copy operations of Express, the eco support tools allow the spindle rotation the disk drive to be turned off when it is not used for a long period, thus reducing the power consumption of the ETERNUS Disk storage system.
