7.1 Backing up Express Manager environment

It is required to save Express Manager environment against failures in a server on which Express Manager is running. Take the following procedure to save its environment. All operations are performed on the relevant server on which Express Manager is running.

About description in the procedure

  • $BAK_DIR means the backup destination directory.

  • $INS_DIR means a directory in which Express Manager is installed.

  1. Stop the services.

    Open Service Control Manager to stop the following three services.

    • ETERNUS SF Express Manager

    • ETERNUS SF Express Manager for CCM GUI Service

    • ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Manager

  2. Back up various settings information.

    Using Explorer, create the following backup directory:

    • $BAK_DIR\Express\Manager\etc

    • $BAK_DIR\Express\Manager\etc\db

    Using Explorer, copy the subdirectories and files in the following directories to the backup location.

    Source directory

    Destination directory

    $INS_DIR\Express\Manager\etc\db

    $BAK_DIR\Express\Manager\etc\db

    Using Explorer, copy the following file to the backup location.

    Source file

    Destination directory

    $INS_DIR\Express\Manager\etc\express_manager.ini

    $BAK_DIR\Express\Manager\etc

  3. Back up device management information.

    Using Explorer, create the following backup directory:

    • $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current\opencimom

    Using Explorer, copy the subdirectories and files in the following directories to the backup location.

    Source directory

    Destination directory

    $INS_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current\opencimom\logr

    $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current\opencimom

  4. Back up essential files.

    If there are no subdirectories or files, backup is unnecessary.

    Using Explorer, create the following backup directories:

    • $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\etc\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0

    • $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0\ac

    • $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0\db

    • $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0\sr

    • $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current

    • $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current\vsccompose

    Using Explorer, copy the subdirectories and files in the following directories to the backup location.

    $INS_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\etc\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0

    $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\etc\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0

    $INS_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0\ac

    $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0\ac

    $INS_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0\db

    $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0\db

    $INS_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0\sr

    $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVtrccb\2.0\sr

    $INS_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current\vsccompose

    $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current\vsccompose

    Using Explorer, copy the following file to the backup location.

    Source file

    Destination directory

    $INS_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current\systemevent.csv

    $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current

  5. Back up files that are related to the performance management function.

    If you are not using the performance management function, this step is unnecessary.

    Using Explorer, create the following backup directories:

    • $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current\perf

    Using Explorer, copy the subdirectories and files in the following directories to the backup location.

    Source directory

    Destination directory

    $INS_DIR\Storage Cruise \Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current\perf

    $BAK_DIR\Storage Cruise\Manager\var\opt\FJSVssmgr\current\perf

  6. If Advanced Copy function is used, save files about definition of copy group and copy pair.

    Using Explorer, create the following backup directory:

    • $BAK_DIR\AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module\etc\db

    • $BAK_DIR\AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module\etc\db\cg

    • $BAK_DIR\AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module\var\micc\database

    Using Explorer, copy the file to the backup location.

    Source file

    Destination directory

    $INS_DIR\AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module\etc\db\eternus.xml

    $BAK_DIR\AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module\etc\db

    $INS_DIR\AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module\var\micc\database\DeviceRegList.xml

    $BAK_DIR\AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module\Manager\var\micc\database

    Using Explorer, copy all files in the source directory to the backup location.

    Source directory

    Destination directory

    $INS_DIR\AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module\etc\db\cg

    $BAK_DIR\AdvancedCopy Manager Copy Control Module \Manager\etc\db\cg

  7. Restart the services

    Open Service Control Manager to start the following three services.

    • ETERNUS SF Express Manager

    • ETERNUS SF Express Manager for CCM GUI Service

    • ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser Manager
