Appendix B Admin Server Commands

This appendix provides reference for commands used with Virtual Storage Conductor running on the admin server.

To create a large number of virtual resources, or to automate virtual resource operations, script files or batch files (that contain admin server commands) can be created.

Description format

The command description format is as follows:

Standard format

Indicates optional characters or optional strings. Input the data as specified.

Italics

Indicates input characters or input strings.

The following table lists the characters that can be input.

Notes

Command execution privilege

All commands must be executed by a user with root (administrator) privileges.

Resource name

Name each resource (including the virtualization switch, virtual storage pool, physical disk, virtual enclosure, virtual target, and virtual disk) to make it identifiable to users and VSC. These names must be unique in VSC. Example the virtual storage pool and virtual enclosure must not have the same name.
