4.3 Registering Virtualization Switches

Register virtualization switches as ESC resources.

Register virtualization switches as storage nodes in the resource view.

  1. 1. Open the [Storage Search] dialog box from the ESC resource management window.

  2. 2. Enter the following information in the [Storage Search] dialog box.

Start the "Storage Search" dialog in the resource view of ESC.

Enter the following information in the "Storage Search" dialog.

Item name

Input value

IP address

IP address of the server on which the SMI agent is active

Search type

Select "SMIS switch"

NameSpace

"root/brocade1"

Login account

Login account of the server on which the SMI agent is active

Login password

Password of the login account.

Port Number

Number of the port connected to the SMI agent.

  1. Open the [Storage Search] dialog box from the ESC resource view.

  2. Enter the following information in the [Storage Search] dialog box.

Open the [Storage Search] dialog box from the ESC resource view.

Enter the following information in the [Storage Search] dialog box.

Item name

Input value

IP address

IP address of Ethernet port for switch control of the VS900 Model 300, ETERNUS SN200 Model 540 (virtualization blade already in-built).

Search type

Auto-detect

  1. When the search completes, add a device.

  2. Refer to "5.2.2 Adding a device (changing from the violet icon state to the registered state)" in the ETERNUS SF Storage Cruiser User's Guide for more information about adding storage devices.
