3.2.1 Automatic Installation of Security Patch

The security patch provided by Microsoft can be automatically distributed and installed from the host server to the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CT".

Systemwalker Desktop Patrol allows the downloading of security patch offered by Microsoft from "Microsoft's public server" and automatic registration in the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CS". This function will provide automation of all tasks from acquisition of a security patch to installation to client.

Automatically installing a security patch, users of the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CT" do not have to perform troublesome update tasks to ensure security. It also prevents installation of a security patch from being omitted.

  1. "Software Dictionary" in which collected inventory information is defined will be distributed from the "Systemwalker Support Center".
  2. The administrator of the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CS" specifies a security patch to be installed.
  3. A security patch offered by Microsoft is downloaded from "Microsoft's public server" and automatically registered in the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CS".
  4. If the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol DS" is used, the security patch is automatically distributed from the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CS" to the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol DS".
  5. The security patch is automatically installed from the upstream server, "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CS", or "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol DS", to the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CT".
  6. The installation status of security patches is collected from the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CT" to the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CS" or "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol DS".
  7. The administrator of the "Systemwalker Desktop Patrol CS" checks the installation status of security patches.

Security patches are automatically installed by Systemwalker Desktop Patrol in steps 2 to 6 above.

Security patches cannot be automatically installed in a PC with Windows Server(R) 2003 x64 Edition.
