Chapter 2 Design | > 2.2 Designing Shunsaku Systems |
Design backups to be performed during Shunsaku operation.
Backups must be designed taking into account the recovery operation performed in the event of a disk malfunction. The key design points are explained below:
Determine whether to use an operation log file by taking into account how frequent the data is updated.
Refer to 5.1.1 Relationship between Operation Log Files and Backup Data for more details.
Determine how often backups should be performed.
Refer to 5.1.2 Backup Cycle for more details.
Determine the location of the disk taking into account an operation of the backup.
The following files should be placed in the following locations to distribute risk in the event of a disk malfunction.
File name |
Location |
---|---|
Director data file |
Disk 1 |
Environment files |

Operation log file |
Disk 2 |
Backup data (*1) |
*1) Backup data of director data files and environment files
When operation log files are used in a configuration containing multiple director servers, it is necessary to synchronize the time on all server machines. Failure to do so can prevent correct recovery.
