2.2.4 Determining the Character Code

Determine the character code to be used.

Shunsaku supports the following character code:

• UTF-8
• Shift-JIS (Japanese)
• EUC-JP (Japanese)
• GB18030 (Chinese)
• GB2312 (Chinese)
• Big5 (Chinese)
• KSC5601 (Korean (Hangul alphabet))

Use the same character code for the following:

• Character identifier code set during standard installation
• The XML documents used as input when search data is created
• Character code specified in the CharacterCode parameter in the system environment
• Input file data for the shundimport command
• Search expressions, return expressions, and sort expressions specified with Shunsaku's C APIs
• The path for direct access keys specified in the direct access key definition file

Refer to CharacterCode in A.1 System Environment Files for more information on character codes that can be used by Shunsaku. The character encoding specified in the XML declaration is not enabled.

Use Unicode as the character code for search expressions, return expressions and sort expressions specified in Shunsaku Java API or .NET API.
