Chapter 1 Messages Overview

1.1 Message Output Destination

Shunsaku will output the error message if any error has occurred. The output destinations of error messages are as follows.

Output Destination

Meaning

System log

Notifying the system administrator that there is an error with Shunsaku system.

The return result of commands

Notifying a person who executed the command that there is an error when executing the command.

The return result of an application

Notifying a person who executed the application that there is an error when executing the application.

An error message may be output to several output destinations depending on how important the error is. For example, if the error has occurred when executing the command due to a simple mistake (such as the mistake at the option name of the command) that can be solved by a person who executed the command, only the message to the command will be returned. However, if an error such as the fault on disk has occurred when executing the command, the message will be output to both return result of the command and the system log.

The user will be able to detect errors in Shunsaku system in advance and correspond promptly to the errors by monitoring the error messages that are output to the system log periodically.

Refer to Appendex A List of Messages Output to the System Log for more information on the messages that are output to the system log.
