Chapter 3 Shunsaku System Installation and Setup | > 3.3 Installation and Setup with Additional Director Servers | > 3.3.2 Setup for Systems with Additional Director Servers |
This section describes how to set up the operating system.
Shunsaku uses the System V IPC resources provided by the operating system for communications between the different processes that make up Shunsaku. IPC resources must be set up according to the definitions for the Shunsaku operating environment to successfully run Shunsaku.
The following IPC resource settings are required to run Shunsaku:
The parameter values in the tables below are required to run Shunsaku.
If values have already been set in the kernel configuration file or by resource management, check these values and add or change them as required. If no values are set, the operating system's default values will be used, so add or change these default values as required. Refer to Appendix C How to Set Up IPC Resources for information on how to make these changes.
For the parameters indicated as 'max' in the following explanation, set a larger value than the existing value (the default value or the value that has already been set). For parameters indicated as 'add', add the value given by the formula to the existing value.
Set the following values for shared memory resources.
Kernel parameter name |
Resource management name |
Value |
Remarks |
---|---|---|---|
shminfo_shmmax |
project.max-shm-memory |
1MB or more |
max |
shminfo_shmmni |
project.max-shm-ids |
The number of Shunsaku processes that start simultaneously (*1) |
add |
*1) This is the number of directors, conductors and sorters.
Set the following values for semaphore resources.
Kernel parameter name |
Resource management name |
Value |
Remarks |
---|---|---|---|
seminfo_semmni |
project.max-sem-ids |
The number of Shunsaku processes that start simultaneously (*1) x 10 |
add |
seminfo_semmns |
- |
The number of Shunsaku processes that start simultaneously (*1) x 10 |
add |
seminfo_semmnu |
- |
The number of Shunsaku processes that start simultaneously (*1) x 10 |
add |
*1) This is the number of directors, conductors, and sorters.
For Solaris 10 and later, the 'seminfo_semmns' and 'seminfo_semmnu' parameters have been discontinued and are not valid, so there is no need to set these parameters.
