3.3.2.1 Defining Director Port Numbers

The port numbers used by the director are specified in the following director server file:

/etc/services

The following definitions are required for the port numbers used by the director:

The specification format is shown below.

service-name port-number/protocol

Service name

Specify a character string that is easily associated with the director.

Port number

Specify a port number that is not in use at the director server.

Protocol

Specify tcp.

Example

A definition example is shown below.

If "shund1_1", "shund1_2", and "shund1_3" are specified as the director service names:

shund1_1 33301/tcp                                    (1)
shund1_2 33302/tcp                                    (2)
shund1_3 33303/tcp                                    (3)

(1) Port number for issue of search requests to the searcher
(2) Port number for issue of update requests to the searcher
(3) Port number for receiving requests

The port numbers used by the director must be specified in the Director parameters in the system environment file.

Refer to System Environment Files of the Operator's Guide for more information on the execution parameters in the system environment file.
