3.1.4.1 Defining Searcher Port Numbers

Specify the port number that is to receive requests from the director.

The port number used by a searcher is specified in the following search server file:

/etc/services

The specification format is shown below.

service-name port-number/protocol

Service name

Specify a character string that is easily associated with the searcher.

Port number

Specify a port number that is not in use at the search server.

Protocol

Specify tcp.

Example

A definition example is shown below.

If "shuns01" is specified as the service name of the searcher:

shuns01 33501/tcp                                           (1)

(1) Port number for receiving requests from the director

The Port number for receiving requests from the director must be specified in the Searcher parameter of the system environment file.

Refer to System Environment Files of the Operator's Guide for more information on the execution parameters in the system environment file.
