Part 3 Global File Services Shared File System | > Chapter 24 File System Backing-up and Restoring | > 24.7 High speed backup and restoration of a GFS Shared File System |
In a GFS Shared File System, partition information is recorded to the media. Therefore, after the contents of the backup source are copied to the backup destination, the backup destination file system cannot be used because the partition information in the media and the partition information in the backup destination do not match.
If this function is used to back up a file system (separation in EC employment or instant backup in OPC implementation), mounting becomes possible with the partition configuration of the backup destination because the function overwrites the partition information of the backup destination file system after the backup.
Similarly, if this function is used to restore a file system, mounting becomes possible with the partition configuration of the backup source because the function overwrites the partition information of the backup source file system after the restoration.
Therefore since the partition information in the media must be overwritten during backup (including separation) and restoration, use the commands (sfcproxyop backup for backup, sfcproxyop part for separation, and sfcproxyrestore for restoration) of this function when performing backup or restoration.
If you use dd(1M) to restore the partition image directly from tape or other media, copy the contents to the backup destination, and then use the sfcproxyrestore command to execute instant copy to the backup source.
