The GFS Shared File System adds partition
s to a conventional system file, thus solving the problems of there being an area shortfall without taking additional time for the backup and/or re-creation of the file system.
file data partitions and meta-data partitions can be added even when the file system is mounted, allowing users to overcome area shortfalls without stopping regular operation.
