12.4.1 Data access performance
The GFS Shared File System allows access to the file system on the shared disk device from multiple nodes. Conventional distributed file systems transfer file data from management servers to clients that have actually issued an access request via a LAN in the network. However, the GFS Shared File System accesses the disk directly from a request node, reducing network load and speeding up response time for a read or write request in comparison with NFS.
