The GFS Local File System improves performance and operability with the following functions:
The GFS Local File System permits to place the update log area in a separate partition. It also permits the allocation of multiple data partitions. The sfxnewfs(1M) command can be used for these types of allocation.
While the UFS file system supports the concept of cylinder groups and block fragmentation, the GFS Local File System does not support these functions.
Therefore, the options in connection with the settings for cylinder group and fragmentation that are supported by UFS are not included in the GFS Local File System commands.
