3.2.1 Solaris 8 OS

The procedures to add PCI cards on a Solaris 8 OS system are explained here. To use the PCI Hot Plug function for extension on Solaris OS, I/O devices to be added must be pre-defined and the system must be rebooted before system operation. If the I/O devices to be added are already defined, pre-definition is not needed, and procedure 1. below can be skipped.

If you use Fibre Channel Card (PW028FC3*/PW028FC4*/PW028FC5*), ensure the automap function is effective. Boot the system after modifying lpfc.conf.
