Chapter 5 Notes> 5.1 Notes on DR Operation

5.1.2 Warning Messages During the Execution of DR Processing

If a DR operation (detaching or attaching a system board) is executed during the operation of the disk array unit or the tape unit, either of the following messages may be displayed to indicate a hardware error.

scsi: WARNING: /pci@NN,M000/scsi@M,N/xxxx@M,N (xxxx):
SCSI transport failed: reason 'unexpected_bus_free': xxxx

[Example]
scsi: WARNING: /pci@80,4000/scsi@2,1/sd@3,0 (sd20):
SCSI transport failed: reason 'unexpected_bus_free': retrying command

Or,

scsi: WARNING: /pci@NN,M000/scsi@M,N (xxxx):
Resetting scsi bus, data overrun: got too much data from target from (M,N)

[Example]
scsi: WARNING: /pci@80,4000/scsi@2,1 (glm2):
Resetting scsi bus, data overrun: got too much data from target from (1,0)

This message is displayed because the execution of DR operation has disabled the system to the extent that it is temporarily unable to accept an interrupt of the SCSI unit. This is not a hardware error.
