GDS provides mirroring function and consistent manageability for disk units managed by GDS by virtualizing disk units as logical volumes. In this chapter, GDS object structure is explained so that you can understand the premise of logical volume management.
As GDS Snapshot, optional software of GDS, is implemented, proxy volumes and shadow volumes become available. By using proxy volumes and shadow volumes, the backup operation that can be conducted during service without affecting the running service can be realized.
