Chapter 4 File System Design

4.1 Mount and unmount opportunity of the file system at the time of system starting and ending

In the GFS Shared File System, a setup for mounting and unmounting automatically at the time of system starting and exiting differs from ext2/ext3 settings.

The mount options field of /etc/fstab must contain noauto in the GFS Shared File System.

A setup of the automatic mount at system startup is specified by describing or omitting noatrc in the mount options field of /etc/fstab.

When noatrc is not described in the mount options field of /etc/fstab, the automatic mountiing is performed on startup. The mounting takes places at the moment of running S76sfcfsrm start, the startup script in run levels 2 ,3and 5.

When noatrc is set in the mount options field of /etc/fstab, the automatic mounting is not performed on system startup.

The GFS Shared File System is automatically unmounted at the system shutdown. The unmounting takes places at the moment of running the shutdown script K36sfcfs stop.

It is necessary to set up the GDSTerm volume that arranges a management partition and the partition of the GFS Shared File System that performs automatic mount so that it may be automatically activated at the time of system starting.
