A.1.5 Number of Volumes
There are the following limits to the number of volumes that can be created within a group or a single disk:
- The number of volumes with the physical slice attributes set to "on" is limited to a maximum of 4.
- The number of volumes with the physical slice attributes set to "on" or "off" is limited to a maximum of 224 collectively.
- Stripe groups and concatenation groups cannot contain volumes with the physical slice attributes set to "on".
- Shadow classes cannot contain volumes with the physical slice attributes set to "on" regardless whether the physical slices are registered with the partition table.
In addition, the following restrictions are applied.
- The number of volumes that can be created within a class is limited to a maximum of 224.
- The number of volumes that can be created within a node is limited to a maximum of 224.
- Nested groups can contain a maximum of 224 volumes and lower level groups collectively.
